I recently obtained a new 500 GB IDE drive that I intend to use in a legacy
Windows 2000 Advanced Server box that is running on a Del Optiplex 240. The
problem is that Win2KAdvSrv is not recognizing the entire capacity (the disk
ony reads as having 127 GB. Interestingly, though, I did put this same hard
drive into another Optiplex 240 that was running XP and the entire capacity
showed. I was told by a colleage that this is due to an outdated (within the
parameters of Windows 2000) IDE controller driver. Does anyone know where I
can download and install the most up to date IDE Controller driver for this
OS? I really do not wish to waste over half the capacity of this drive.

If you have installed Service Pack 3 or later it is already included,
but support for large disks still has to be activated by a registry
setting. See here:
