deleting temporary files

My computer has hundreds of temporary files of which I do not know how to
remove.
I have nortons utilities systemworks that is supposed to remove these
files. Perhaps I'm not doing something right.
Please help!!!

You'll probably first want to get to the bottom of what process creates
them.
